Woeful Waffle
I can summarize this product in one word - junk! At the lower settings (my son likes a light color, so selected "2" out of "4" heat settings), the waffle remained pasty and uncooked after about 20 minutes. I finally convinced DS to crank it up to "4", and those waffles were crispy/burned on the outside and raw on the inside. The waffle maker would not sit level after it was rotated, so we would either have to stand and hold it level, or suffer waffles where all the batter had run to one side. The ready light on the flip side never came on... ever.... Did I remember to say this was junk? Back it goes.
It will make a waffle...eventually
I saw the Bella Cucina waffle maker at a flea market in its original package. I negotiated the price down to $12, which should have tipped me off about its real value.
My box came with a user's manual, but it did not help. The instruction manual said the green "ready" light would turn on when the waffle finished cooking. I opened the lid when the green light came on and the waffle was far from cooked (the batter was still white). The instructions also suggested that you cook your waffle at a level 4 setting. However, after 10 minutes of waiting, the waffle was still not close to being cooked. Finally, I cranked it all the way to MAX, and I got something that could be considered a waffle. It was not crispy or light and fluffy. It was soggy from all the steam.
If you don't have much expectations for a waffle maker, are not too hungy and have a lot of time to waste, then Bella Cucina should be fine. I suggest purchasing it at your local flea market since many...
Don't bother
The only reason this product gets two stars is that it can function to create a "waffle". Other than that it's a question of how well. Don't dream of golden, evenly cooked waffles in 2 minutes with this product. These are more like "it's a waffle that will cause you to cut back on carb intake" if that makes any sense.
